WORLD-renowned South African authority on holistic management, Dick Richardson, has headlined grazing management conferences in Australia before but he now calls our country home.
Mr Richardson, wife, Adele, and two daughters are now managing the Arnott family's property, "Hanaminno", Boorowa, and thanks to his relocation, NSW holistic management enthusiasts will have convenient access to training.
His early observations of farming in Australia included the use of too few labour units to run a property, especially when attention to detail was key to achieving good grass management.
"I believe that holistic principles are very sound and they need to be shared with as many people as possible for the improvement of ecological processes and therefore the future of mankind."
He has joined forces with leading Australian agricultural consultancy and training provider, PrincipleFocus, as guest educator at its upcoming four-day Cell GrazingFocus course.
The comprehensive introduction to cell grazing will be held at Dubbo on March 23 to 26, and will include field visits to cell grazing properties operated by 2008 NSW Farmer of the year winners, Nigel and Kate Kerin, "Karuga Park", Yeoval, and Rod and Kate Mildner, "Billabulla", Warren.
PrincipleFocus training co-ordinator, Richard Groom, said having Mr Richardson and his practical training experience to co-facilitate this month's Cell GrazingFocus course would enhance its effectiveness.
The PrincipleFocus Cell GrazingFocus course is approved for FarmReady funding.
