Mighty Murray greys clean up

MURRAY grey cattle bred by Ted and Georgette Keen, Nawarra stud, Gregadoo performed well at the Royal Canberra Show.

Mrs Keen said they took a team of six head to Canberra and and earned first prize in the bull 12 to 14 months class and later picked up reserve champion with Nawarra Supermint.

In addition another bull won first prize in the 18 to 20-month class and the winning exhibit Nawarra All Star is set to be auctioned at the upcoming Murray Grey National Sale, Wodonga.

"In the heifer section we gained first in the 12 to 14-month class with Nawarra Lotus and second in the 16 to 18-month class with Nawarra Charm," Mrs Keen said.

The success was backed up in the Hoof and Hook Competition's light weight category where a second prize was won on the hoof and a third on the hook.

Meanwhile, the Country Hope, fundraising steer was also exhibited and later sold to Cargill Beef Australia for $4250.
