ORGANIC farming specialist Robyn Neeson has won a prestigious award.
Mrs Neeson, an organic farming liaison officer with Industry and Investment NSW, at Yanco has claimed the Organic Federation of Australia lifetime achievement award.
“I am very humbled by the award,” said Mrs Neeson (pictured).
The federation is the peak body of the Australian organic sector and its lifetime award honours people who have spent their lives promoting the organic
sector.
I and I NSW director of climate and water Research, Rob Young, congratulated Ms Neeson and said it was truly great news and a suitable recognition for her outstanding efforts over many years.
Mrs Neeson, who graduated from Hawkesbury Agricultural College in 1980, also holds a graduate diploma in sustainable agriculture (with distinction), and was awarded the Collegiate Association Prize by Sydney University in 1995.
In her current position, she has a state-wide role to develop and provide information and advice on organic farming systems and liaise with the peak national organic body and other organic industry groups.
Mrs Neeson current projects include;
optimising the quality and yield of spelt and other specialty grains under organic production.
The development and the introduction of an organic farming short course.
And production of a number of new Primefacts on organics.
