BLAND Shire farmers are being asked to share their tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle when times are tough.
Researchers at Deakin University and the University of Tasmania are inviting farmers in Weethalle, Ungarie and Tallimba to take part in a study looking at what they do to achieve and maintain good physical and mental health in difficult times.
"External pressures such as drought or low commodity prices are known to have physical and mental health consequences for farming communities," said Deakin University researcher Professor Sue Kilpatrick.
"With the growing burden on health services in rural areas, it is important to find ways to encourage people to maintain good health.
"We are calling on local farmers to help us get a clear picture of what they do to maintain their health, especially in difficult times," she said.
