The price was a record for the Wagga sale after vendor Andrew Kennedy from Canonbar Station, Nyngan sold his 20-month-old dog A Kennedy’s Boots to Tasmanian buyer Frank Davies from Nile.
The result was almost a carbon copy of last year’s event when the same buyer and seller were involved in a transaction totalling $8500.
In fact the dog sold last year was a full brother to Boots.
“I knew he was a special dog and might have even made a bit more than that,” he said.
Mr Kennedy said quality working dogs were integral to his daily work on the station where they run 20,000 sheep.
He said the interest in good dogs was still strong and the event in Wagga provided an excellent opportunity for vendors and buyers.
“The Wagga Yard Dog Club does a brilliant job in the way they run it, it is first class and they are to be congratulated,” he said.
Throughout the weekend a series of trials were held to coincide with the auction.
