The Australian Bushmen's Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) conducts the national finals rodeo during the same week as the country music festival.
To earn a place in the prestigious event competitors need to win enough prize money throughout the year to put them in the top 15 in their respective events.
Mrs Makeham said she had a good year and managed to make it into the finals in number seven spot despite not travelling to a lot of rodeos.
The silver lining was the fact her husband Ben, also an accomplished competitor, made it to the finals in the rope-and-tie event.
"It was good to go as a husband and wife team," she said.
"We had a successful year and we were able to travel smart and not harder," she said.
Mrs Makeham juggles running a farm, supporting the family livestock carrying business and looking after her two girls Isobella, 9, and Darnah, 6, with competing on the circuit.
She has been roping for about 15 years and said rodeo wasn't just about the sport.
"It is nice to achieve your goals but we also enjoy the social aspect of the sport, it is nice to catch up with old friends," she said.
As part of the ABCRA event Isobella participated in the popular "build a cowboy and cowgirl" day.
The activities allow children to participate in the various rodeo events in a fun and safe atmosphere.
"We did bull riding, bronc riding, steer wrestling, steer undecorating, barrel racing and roping," Isobella said.
"My favourite was riding the bucking bull (which was a 44-gallon drum)," she said.
Isobella said her uncle Jason O'Hearn was a bull rider and she had got a few tips from him.
