Overall quality was quite mixed with increased

numbers of well-bred secondary yearlings across all weights and grades. Trade cattle were in reasonable numbers while heavy grown steers and bullocks were in shorter supply.

Cow numbers increased and all weights and grades were represented.

The regular contingent of export and domestic buyers were in attendance.

The usual gallery of restockers were active and most lot feeder buyers were operational.

The better quality selection of prime vealers sold to strong demand with the steer portion selling 7c dearer from 213c to 228c/kg.

Vealers which lacked finish sold to strong restocker and lot feeder competition and prices were generally equal to the

previous sale. Yearling heifers and steers suitable for the trade were in reasonable numbers and a few outstanding pens of supplementary fed European cross steers and heifers made from 190c to 221c, while the C3 medium weight yearling heifers averaged 185.9c/kg. Lightweight vealer steers returning to the paddock were well supplied and prices were firm to 2c cheaper to average 209.8c/kg.

Light-weight C2 yearling heifers to turnout sold to increased buying competition and ranged from 170c to 180c/kg.

Well-bred medium weight feeder steers were well supplied and all buyers were eager to capture adequate supplies which lifted prices 6c to average 203.6c/kg. The C2 medium weight heifers were keenly contested and prices were 4c to 6c/kg higher.

Heavy-grown steers were in limited numbers and there were insufficient numbers of heavy bullocks over 600kg to quote.

Most of the well finished C3 and C4 pens made from190c to 212.2c/kg. Grown heifers sold to fluctuating price trends depending on cover and age.

Well finished younger heifers averaged 186.5c and reached a top price of 192c/kg.

A very mixed quality yarding of cows sold to the usual group of buyers and restockers. Heavy cows sold firm to 1c easier, while the light and medium weight lines were 2c to 7c/kg cheaper. The D3 medium weight pens averaged 140.5c, while the heavy 4 score cows made from 148c to 175c/kg. Lighter weight young cows to turnout sold to a smaller group of buyers and made from 124c to 136c/kg.
