Sponsored by Bayer CropScience, the Chris Lehmann Trust Young Achiever of the Year Award promotes the development of young people in Australian agriculture and recognises the hard work and dedication of those who help shape the future of the Australian cotton industry.
The finalists for 2014 are Zara Lowien, executive officer at Gwydir Valley Irrigators Association, Moree, Matthew McVeigh of McVeigh Brothers Partnership, Dalby, Queensland, and Heath McWhirter, senior cotton agronomist at Elders in Griffith.
Cotton Australia chief executive officer, Adam Kay said, Australia’s cotton industry has many young achievers, and the awards were a great way to showcase the efforts and success of those who stand out.
The winner of the award will be announced on August 7 as part of the Australian Cotton Conference held on the Gold Coast.
The recipient will receive a $5000 bursary on behalf of the Chris Lehmann Trust to develop new skills and expertise in a subject nominated by the recipient so they can continue their positive contribution to the industry through their professional development.
