The price increase was the largest weekly rise in five months. The market opened on Wednesday with a continuation of the previous weeks show of solidarity however, as the day progressed the positive momentum intensified.
This trend carried over into Thursday’s sale. Whie in the previous weeks it has been the best style and specified lots that attracted the attention there was renewed interest in the lower style and poorer specified lots resulting in Merino fleece rises between 15c and 50c clean for the week.
Merino skirtings remained buoyant but did not rise to the extent of the Fleece whilst the crossbreds similarly increased by 5c to 10c. Merino cardings followed the trend up 5c to 10c for the week.
