Numbers lifted slightly this sale, with mutton showing the increase. Lamb quality was similar to the previous week’s sale, with good numbers of well finished lambs on offer, although there was an increased percentage showing signs of dryness.
There were 13,900 new season lambs offered, with trade weights well supplied.
The usual buyers were present and competing in a cheaper market.
Light new season lambs were firm to $1 easier, selling from $93 to $104/head. Trade weights were $3 to $4 easier, with prices ranging from $101 to $119/head.
Heavy lambs slipped $5, selling from $114 to $125/head. Extra heavy weights ranged from $124 to $134/head.
Carcase prices averaged from 448c to 487c/kg cwt. Old trade weight lambs sold from $74 to $101/head.
Heavy weights ranged from $106 to $116 and extra heavy weights received from $118 to $159/head. Mutton numbers increased and Merinos made up the majority of the offering. Quality was mixed and prices slipped $5 to $7/head. Merino ewes sold from $71 to $100/head.
Crossbreds ranged from $74 to $95 and Merino wethers sold from $76 to $88/head.
