Numbers were similar and quality was mixed over most weights and grades.
Secondary cattle were well supplied with lot feeder competition weaker across all categories.
Yearling heifers and steers suitable for the trade were in good numbers, while grown steers and bullock’s were also well supplied.
The usual group of domestic and export buyers was operating however there were fewer feedlot companies in attendance.
The mixed quality supply of vealers sold to varying competition and the better finished pens made from 200c to 220.2c/kg.
Medium weight grass finished heifers sold 4c cheaper to average 176.9c/kg. Well finished medium weight trade steers sold to subdued bidding which resulted in a cheaper trend of 10c/kg.
Light weight secondary steers suitable to restock sold to a smaller group of buyers and prices were 10c/kg lower. Well-bred light weight steers sold from 180c to 219c/kg.
Secondary heifers returning to the paddock averaged 172.3c/kg. Well-bred medium weight C2 yearling steers were well supplied however not all major buyers operated fully and prices were generally 6c/kg cheaper.
Lighter weight heifers were well supplied and sold 5c lower to average 173c/kg.
The good quality offering of grown steers and bullocks sold too much weaker demand with prices 8c to 17c/kg cheaper.
The better quality pens of grown steers and bullocks sold from 180c to 194c/kg. Heavy cows were well supplied and the market was erratic for cows showing increased condition. Well finished beef cows made from 146c to 171c/kg.
The D2 and D3 cows were in reasonable supply and prices were 14c to 15c/kg cheaper with the D3 medium weight cows averaging 144.9c/kg.
