To be staged from February 20 to 22 at the home of Evonne Goolagong, Barellan will be conducting 11 sports with proceeds to be donated back to the Barellan community.
In a staggering feat for the community, the Masters committee has donated over $40,000 in grants for the past five years.
This finance has been used in Barellan for community projects, such as the $10,000 for the solar heating at the Barellan pool, a new kitchen for the CWA, $4200 thus far for Barellan Aged Care.
President Sal Irons said ‘We thought we needed an annual event that brought people into the town that would not only encourage the 'older' generation to get active as in 2014 we had two ladies aged 75 and 77 competing in the golf.
We also needed to inject some funds into some of the infrastructure around the town as we're extremely proud to be able to help community projects come to fruition and to continue to make our town a fantastic place to live. It was also a good opportunity to show off our little town to the wider community’.
Friday night, February, 20 the lawn bowls starts off proceedings. Saturday February, 21 will feature touch, swimming, tennis, golf, run, walk, with Saturday night seeing the staging of team penning. All will roll up again on Sunday February, 22 for the netball, six-a-side cricket, triathlon and the continuation of tennis and golf.
With every sport having different minimum age requirements there is no reason to think that you’re too old. Register your team today at www.barellanmastersgames.com.au and join them on Facebook.
