According to the Wagga Associated Agents draw a total of 7301 will go under the hammer.
This figure would allow the Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre to break the previous record of 7057 set just two weeks ago.
And according to GJ Hulm director, Isaac Hill prices are set to hold firm given the amount of demand from Queensland restockers and feedlot operators and abattoirs.
He confirmed that no other centre in Australia was currently yarding or selling anywhere near this amount of cattle.
In fact, the shortage of cattle in northern NSW and Queensland is what is putting Wagga in the box seat to run such big and successful auctions.
Mr Hill said it was hard to determine whether Monday's sale would break the current record.
He estimated that some vendors might pull cattle out when they see the draw.
"We traditionally lose between 5 to 10 per cent (from the initial draw)," he said.
Despite the big yardings prices have been relatively unaffected and the record sale two weeks ago was back by 3c/kg to 5c/kg on what was initially anticipated.
Mr Hill said there would be big numbers across all categories and vendors were taking opportunity to sell off surplus and empty cows.
At the sale two weeks ago 7057 cattle were sold for an average of $916.
