Market kicks buy $3 a head at Griffith

Numbers showed a large decrease this sale with both lamb and mutton numbers affected.

Lamb quality continues to be mixed with both well finished and plainer pens yarded. Heavy and extra heavy lambs made up the majority of the offering. Most of the usual buyers were present and competing in a fairly steady market.

Light lambs held firm selling from $94 to $98/head. Trade weights also held steady with prices ranging from $100 to $123/head.

Heavy lambs eased slightly to receive from $128 to $135/head. Extra heavies were firm to $3 dearer with prices ranging from

$136 to $180/head. Carcase prices averaged from 512c to 565c/kg. Mutton numbers were made up of mostly Merinos and quality was very mixed. Prices remained fairly similar with Merino ewes selling from $80 to $117/head. Crossbred ewes ranged in price from $86 to $114 and Dorper ewes sold from $76 to $110/head.
