Trade lambs were in reasonable supply with less numbers of longer-wool types. Well shaped trade lambs were keenly sought by several domestic processors, while plainer lambs lacking finish were keenly contested by several processors.

The usual contingent of domestic and export buyers were competing in a steady market.

Bidding intensified for the better finished heavy trade lambs, which was aided by stronger demand from southern domestic buyers. The bulk of the heavy trade lambs averaged 615c/kg cwt, reaching a top price of $164.60/head.

Trade lambs, 20-22kg, were keenly sought by all domestic processors, with lambs to slaughter averaging $142.50/head. Light weight plain lambs sold to strong competition, with export processors keen to secure numbers. Light lambs to the processors ranged from $76 to $115/head.

There were very few restockers operating and buyers paid from $59 to $116/head.

Heavy export lambs were well supplied with plenty of lambs weighing in excess 30kg cwt. Heavy lambs made from $146 to $176, to average 621c/kg cwt. The bulk of the extra heavy lambs sold from $162 to $205.60, averaging 579c to 600c/kg cwt.

Mutton numbers lifted and quality was quite mixed, with all weights and grades represented. Merino ewes suitable for the trade were in reasonable supply, and made from $84 to $122/head. Heavy sheep were well supplied and prices were generally unchanged to a few dollars dearer for Merino ewe mutton, making from $110 to $133/head. Heavy Merino wethers were in greater numbers with several lots with very little skin value, selling from $118 to $130/head, to average 439c/kg cwt.

Heavy crossbred ewes were in greater numbers selling from $94 to $136/head.
