Horticulture committee chairman, Peter Darley of Orange said the meeting provides a chance for growers to discuss issues.
“Country of origin labelling has been a hot topic for the association and we are keen to continue discussing a way forward.” “Transparency of the origin of food is an important issue for our committee and our association’s members. Understandable and accurate labelling of both imported and domestic products allows consumers to make informed purchasing decisions about food products,” he said.
“We believe that providing these new claims will reduce the current confusion around the ‘made in’ claim and will address the information requirements consumers have been asking for,” he said.
