The small number of well finished vealers sold to weak domestic competition, making from 275c to 310c/kg.
Vealers steers and heifers with finish were keenly sought by some feedlots, making from 278c to 344c/kg.
Medium weight grass finished heifers suitable for the trade were 3c cheaper to average 285c/kg.
The better shaped steers to the trade averaged 308c/kg. Local restocker demand helped underpin lighter weight heifer prices, with the better shaped lines making from 248c to 286c/kg. Lighter weight steers returning to the paddock sold to dearer trends over all categories, reaching a top price of 376c to average 323c/kg. Well-bred lighter weight steers, 330-400kg, sold to weaker feedlot demand to average 318c/kg. Medium weight C2 feeder steers sold to the strongest price trends on the day, however prices did ease 4c to average 312c/kg.
Lighter weight heifers, 330-400kg, sold to a smaller group of feedlot buyers for 20c cheaper, averaging 284c/kg.
The good quality supply of heavy grown steers sold to a small group of export and domestic processors and demand weakened, with a fair percentage of heavy steers purchased by feedlots. The better quality pens of prime finished C3 and C4 steers made from 270c to 305c/kg.
Heavy steers to feed on attracted strong bidding selling from 286c to 321c/kg.
Heavy cows and leaner grades were unchanged.
The bulk of the better leaner grades and heavy beef cows sold from 230c to 258c/kg.
