As temperatures headed towards a high of 39 degrees big crowds watched the lots go under the hammer.
Prices were 5 to 10c/kg dearer and the market strengthened.
There was increased southern export competition which boasted demand for heavy steers.
Meat and Livestock Australia market reporter Leann Dax said heavy steer and bullock prices were 10c/kg dearer and cows were 5c/kg.
Heavy steers topped at 298c/kg for those weighing more than 500kg.
