The year six Jindera Public School student earned the right to compete at one of Australia’s toughest and most prestigious rodeo competitions.
Colten, 11, is from Gerogery and was chosen to ride in the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft Rodeo (ABCRA) junior finals at Tamworth.
For many the event holds pride of place as one of the most significant events on the competition calendar.
Colten said the experience was amazing and he was thrilled to place fourth in the average in the under 11s barrel race during the junior finals.
“I was lucky to have a really successful year,” he said.
He described the atmosphere at the event as memorable.
Colten said he was fortunate to ride such an honest horse that he got along with really well. He was also supported by his older sister Josie who also competes.
