Australia’s leading bareback rider Ben Hall from Tumbarumba is trying to forget about the final professional event of the season before national titles.
More than 1500 spectators came through the gates on the weekend to watch the Ettamogah Pub rodeo, great for the organisers, “bloody rubbish” for Hall.
“I got on a good horse and rode him horrible,” Hall said.
“Got in a bit of trouble at the start and made it look pretty ugly.”
In general the event was successful; beginning three hours earlier than anticipated to fit in more than 200 competitors taking part in the last qualifier for the national finals in Queensland.
Tooma saddle bronc champion Brad Pierce will also attend the finals despite nursing a groin injury that has taken him out of competition for six weeks.
