According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service (NLRS) numbers lifted again.
There was 12,000 new-season lambs penned and quality was very mixed.
There were some good runs of well finished lambs available along with a large percentage of lighter store lambs. The usual buyers were present and competing along with restockers in a cheaper market New season lambs to restockers received from $88 to $115/head.
Light lambs slipped $15 to sell from $102 to $115/head. Trade weights were also $15 cheaper with prices ranging from $110 to $136/head. Heavy lambs also fell with prices ranging from $133 to $159/head.
Carcase prices averaged from 546c to 574c/kg. Old lambs were $13 to $15 easier with light lambs averaging $100/head. Trade weights sold from $106 to $128, heavies received $124 to $139 and extra heavy weights ranged from $139 to $158/head.
Mutton numbers showed the increase and quality was very mixed though there were some handy lines of wethers on offer.
Prices slipped $10 with Merino ewes selling from $75 to $110/head. Crossbred ewes ranged from $85 to $115 and Merino wethers sold from $95 to $128/head.
