The red cattle dog filled a void in Mr Wilson’s heart on Monday when he returned home to find Bonzer missing after a bizarre mix up.
Mr Wilson searched far and wide for his “best friend”, with his social campaign stretching as far as Central Queensland.
While Mr Wilson was outraged that his dog had been taken, he said he had no plans to take it further or contact police.
“I am just so happy to have my dog back,” Mr Wilson said.
“I don’t need anything more than that.”
In the ultimate display of community spirit, three Wagga girls went on the search to find Bonzer after one claimed they knew where the woman lived, noticing a car which matched the description of the captor.
“Bonzer is so happy to be home – he is just as happy as I am,” Mr Bonzer said.
“He hasn’t stopped standing by my side.”
Mr Wilson said he wasn’t afraid that the woman would return.
“There’s no way she would come back and take him again,” Mr Wilson said.
“I was just afraid she would sell him.”
