Just a couple of days ago the Henty 4WD and Outdoor Adventure Expo, scheduled to take place this weekend, was called off. It was an eleventh-hour move and it came after Explore Australia Exhibitions was notified of insolvency. 

This event had earned kudos and plenty of people were looking forward to it. Exhibitors had purchased their sites in good faith and the local schools were putting finishing touches on catering arrangements. In all, it was set to be a good thing for the Henty community and was also a chance to diversify the well-known and successful Henty Machinery Field Days site. Unfortunately the events of this week were out of the hands of those who live in Henty. Yet the resilience shines like a beacon with the community rallying to still run an event and try and salvage some value for the people and more than 100 businesses left out of pocket. The question lingers as to what the cost of this would be to the Henty community. This is a community that demonstrates every year that it can get the job done when it comes to catering for the Henty Machinery Field Days.

It is this catering that also has enormous flow on effects for locals schools and community groups. In many ways the 4WD Expo was another opportunity to lift these groups up. It seems that the Henty community will miss out in some ways but the event will still take shape at Wodonga. Under new arrangements the Albury-Wodonga Pop Up Outdoor Adventure Expo will be held on Saturday.
