It was the first cattle sale back at the centre after the Easter recess.
According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service quality was again only fair.
Lighter weight secondary yearlings and vealers were well supplied, along with a mixed selection of trade and heavy cattle.
Domestic processors once again struggled to find well finished stock suitable for the trade.
Grown steers and bullocks were in limited supply while cow numbers increased.
Restockers were active and had the greatest influence over light weight categories.
The mixed quality supply of vealers sold from 350c to 390c/kg.
Trade steers sold to fluctuating price trends, with the better finished steers selling from 325c to 365c, to average 356c/kg.
Trade heifers were mixed in quality and bidding strengthened for both light and medium weight categories.
Trade heifers sold 15c dearer to average 340c/kg.
Weaner yearlings and vealers sold to stronger competition from a large gallery of store buyers. The bulk of the lighter steers returning to the paddock lifted 33c selling at 390c to 459c/kg. The heifer portion topped at 400c, to average 386c/kg.
Medium feeder steers were 3c dearer making from 308c to 368c/kg. The main run of lighter feeder heifers sold to strong competition lifting 5c to average 352c/kg.
Heavy steers sold to solid competition from processors and feedlots resulting in a dearer trend of 9c/kg.
Bullocks sold firm to 2c/kg dearer. The better quality pens of prime finished steers and bullocks made from 300c to 342c/kg.
Cow numbers lifted in a mixed quality offering, with all weights and grades represented.
