There were good supplies of heavy lambs, with buyer interest fluctuating throughout the sale.
Well-bred store lambs and plainer non-descript light weight lambs attracted the best competition. The market again struggled to find a level with only the shorter skinned trade lambs attracting the best competition.
Generally trade lambs sold either side of firm.
The bulk of trade lambs made from $124 to $164/head to average 631c/kg cwt. Store lambs with weight and frame were keenly sought by interstate buyers. The bulk of the store lambs sold from $100 to $142/head. Light lambs to the processors made from $111 to $130/head.
Heavy lambs were in reasonable supply, however the market lacked numbers weighing 30kg plus.
Heavy lambs sold $3/head dearer to average 615c/kg cwt. The bulk of the heavy and extra heavy lambs averaged 606 to 615c/kg cwt. The mutton market showed a price correction of $5 to $10/head with, heavy sheep holding above 500c/kg cwt.
Light sheep sold from $58 to $98/head.
Not all buyers operated fully across the trade or heavy categories, resulting in the cheaper trend.
The bulk of the trade sheep sold at $98 to $126/head.
Heavy sheep were well supplied selling at $128 to $190/head to average 511c to 545c/kg cwt.
