There were reasonable numbers of heavy lambs, along with a mixed selection of trade and lighter weights.
The usual export and domestic buyers were in attendance and prices varied for light lambs causing a much wider price spread.
Increased numbers of shorter skinned trade lambs were offered this week and they attracted a premium.
Major buyers opted to bid on better quality types.
Generally, trade lamb prices tracked either side of firm. The bulk of trade lambs sold from $133 to $173/head to average 659c/kg cwt. Store lambs were keenly sought, however there were less buyers operating.
The bulk of the store lambs sold from $104 to $147.20/head.
Heavy lambs were well supplied and quality was quite good.
Heavy lambs sold $3 cheaper making from $163 to $184/head.
The bulk of the extra heavy lambs sold at $171 to $237/head to average 631c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred ewes made from $170 to $205/head. Merino wethers made from $140 to $188/head. Light sheep sold from $52 to $95/head.
Rams made from $90 to $152/head. Heavy sheep made to 510c/kg cwt. Trade sheep made 540c/kg cwt. Light sheep made 520c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred ewes would be firm and all other grades were $5 to $6/head cheaper.
