Vendors sold 37,000 sheep and lambs at the market on Thursday. Numbers declined and quality was mixed, with lighter weight lambs reflecting the seasonal conditions.

There were reasonable numbers of heavy lambs, along with a mixed selection of trade and lighter weights. The usual export and domestic buyers were in attendance however, not all companies operated.
Shorn trade lambs attracted the most competition as buyers chose to bid on neater shapes and quality.
Generally, trade lambs sold to cheaper trends of $10/head. The bulk of trade lambs sold from $117 to $162/head to average 615c/kg cwt. Merino trade lambs were well supplied giving buyers the opportunity to be more selective. Prices fell $6 to $11/head to average 545c/kg cwt.
Well-bred store lambs were limited with the bulk of the lighter weights selling to processors to average 590c to 630c/kg cwt. The bulk of the store lambs sold from $75 to $117/head.
Heavy lambs were well supplied and quality was very good. Heavy lambs struggled to attract solid demand, with some companies not operating. Heavy lambs sold up to $17/head cheaper to average 580c/kg cwt.
The bulk of the extra heavy lambs sold $12 to $16 cheaper making from $160 to $204/head to average 564c to 578c/kg cwt.
It was a mixed quality yarding of mutton, which sold to a smaller group of buyers.
Heavy sheep sold $18 to $26/head cheaper to average 439c/kg cwt.
Trade sheep were well supplied making from $89 to $126/head.
Light sheep made from $56 to $96/head to average 400c/kg cwt.

Numbers remained steady this sale and quality was also similar to that of previous weeks.
There were 7,350 lambs penned with good numbers of well finished lambs offered along with the plainer types. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were well supplied. The usual buyers were present and competing in a cheaper market.
Light lambs eased $7 to sell from $107 to $117/head.
Trade weights were back $6 to $10 with prices ranging from $118 to $148/head.
Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs were $10 to $15/head cheaper.
Heavy lambs sold from $142 to $154 and extra heavy weights received from $153 to $205/head.
Carcase prices averaged from 575c to 615c/kg cwt.
Mutton numbers were made up of mostly Merinos and quality was very mixed.
Prices eased $10 to $15 with Merino ewes selling from $102 to $142/head.
Crossbreds received from $100 to $132 and Dorper ewes sold from $100 to $113/head.
