The new five-year strategic plan guides the Centre’s research and graduate training.
Acting Graham Centre Director Dr Marta Hernandez-Jover said the centre aims to partner with industry to identify and realise opportunities to improve the profitability and sustainability of grain and livestock industries.
“We recognise that this doesn’t stop at the farm gate. The 2017- 2021 Strategic Plan supports research to increase the value of grains and meat through improvements in processing and marketled product innovation.”
To ensure the Centre’s research is relevant a new panel of eight independent industry representatives will provide strategic and technical advice to the Graham Centre Board.
“Working with the panel will help us to identify gaps in research and new opportunities for partnerships and engagement to drive innovation throughout the value chain,” said Dr HernandezJover.
“More than 20 expressions of interest were received for the eight positions and we’re thrilled that the new panel brings expertise from a wide range of interests.”
The new Graham Centre Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) is:
- Angela Avery, Research Director Agriculture Resources Sciences, Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources
- Andrew Bouffler, owner and principal Triggervale sheep studs
- Cindy Cassidy, Chief Executive Officer, FarmLink Research
- Dr Angus Crossan, Manager – Innovation, Food Innovation Australia Limited
- Diana Gibbs, Chair, Regional Development Australia, Riverina
- David McKeon, joint Chief Executive Officer Grain Growers Limited
- Chris Mirams, Director, Meat and Livestock Australia
- Murray Scholz, owner and Chief Executive Officer, Scholz Farming Company
The panel will met for the first time this week.
