The prospect of a small group of CWA members struggling to pay a $200 bill bothered the pupils of Ashmont Public School so much that they decided to do something about it.

This week the student representative council will be selling cups of warm Milo for 50 cents each at lunchtime, with the money to go to the Cartwrights Hill CWA.
The nine elderly members of the branch have applied to have the sewerage management fee of $207.75 waived, having already had electricity to their rooms cut off.
Ashmont principal Jodi Jones said the pupils wanted to recognise the community work of the CWA. “The CWA helps in so many ways. This is also a great way to help the children develop empathy and to build new community links,” she said.
