According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service most of the usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
A few pens of trade weight new season lambs sold from $134 to $164/head. Old light lambs averaged $111/head. Trade weights were $3 to $4 dearer to sell from $120 to $137/head.
Heavy weight lambs averaged $146 and extra heavy weights received from $150 to $200/head. Carcase prices averaged 572c to 595c/kg cwt. Mutton quality was very mixed though prices lifted.
Merino ewes sold from $106 to $150/head. Crossbred ewes ranged in price from $100 to $133 and Dorper ewes received $89 to $105/head.
