Amazing photographers awarded at Broken Hill

The winners of the 2017 Life and Light Photo Competition were announced at the Western Landcare Forum’s gala dinner in Broken Hill last week.

A total of 185 entries across eight categories were received from amateur photographers, all of which were taken in the Western Local Land Services region and were linked to the theme of ‘healthy landscapes – healthy food”, which was also the theme of the Western Landcare Forum.

At the gala dinner, judges, finalists and attendees spoke of the high standard of photos on display, all of which showcased the beauty, diversity and uniqueness in the Western region.

Western Local Board chairman Ben Barlow presented the award winners at the forum and was impressed with the winning images in all categories.

“I was really impressed with the standard of the photographs from the primary school students up to the open adult categories,” Mr Barlow said.

“Being the 19th year of the Life and Light competition, it has got a great reputation throughout not only the Western region but further afield which is seen with finalists coming from Victoria, South Australia and NSW.

“It was a great night at the Western Landcare Forum and I’d also like to congratulate all the finalists on the quality of the images they entered.”
