BARWON Poll Dorsets & White Suffolks is preparing to conduct its annual spring ram sale on Friday, October 13 at “Barwon South”, Yerong Creek.
Long-time client John White, Kin-Kora, Kywong recently achieved outstanding results at the Wagga lamb market.
John, who has bought from Barwon for over 15 years, had 200 suckers averaging 59.5kg (28kg dressed) at $180/head.
The lead 55 at 30kgs broke a sucker lamb record and made $196.20/head.
All of these new season lambs were sired by Barwon Poll Dorsets, which has made owners the Yates family extremely proud of their progeny.
This spring rams advertising feature is supported by these businesses.
“Alongside the weekly lamb market, many of our clients have been achieving similar results selling direct to meatworks,” stud principal Mark Yates said.
“I put this down to breeders using quality Barwon rams with the combination of first cross, composites and Merino ewes.”
Barwon will again be in attendance at Henty Machinery Field Days this year, with a few sale rams on display at their site.
Mark encouraged interested producers attending the annual field days to call in for a chat at site 1044, block V and see a sample of what will be available at the upcoming sale.
The Yates family is looking forward to seeing both old and new clients on October 13.
Everyone is invited to arrive early and enjoy a light lunch and refreshments before the commencement of the sale.
