Boutique hotel and day spa CIRCA 1936 co-owner Yirin Yaxley said staff were over the moon.
“This is far more than simply recognition of the achievements of CIRCA 1936 as a luxury accommodation provider,” she said.
“It also exposes the region to the immense publicity that accompanies the award and sends a message to everyone that the region has a genuine luxury accommodation offering.
“It shows that luxury can work in a small country town.”
There were 100 finalists named across 26 categories recognising excellence from a range of tourism areas such as Tourist Attractions, Festival and Events, Ecotourism, Destination Marketing, Accommodation, Tourism Education and Training.
Winners will be announced at the NSW Tourism Awards on November 16 in Sydney.
Winners will represent NSW at the Australian Tourism Awards on February 23.
Tourism Industry Division, NSW Business Chamber, executive manager Dean Gorddard said success in the Tourism Awards did not depend on the size of an operator.
“It depends on their vision, achieving their business goals and, as a result, the excellent way their tourism product or service is finally delivered,” he said.
“Congratulations to all the finalists for articulating their business and story so well.”
Ms Yaxley said the secret to their success had been “in persevering with providing the very best service”.
“At the end of the day, the new definition of luxury, is service, service, service, as opposed to the old days of bling and facades,” she said.
“Amazing service appeals to all generations, be they Gen X, Gen Y or Baby Boomers.”
