Emergency services were called to the Cobb Highway 40 kilometres south of Hay around 10pm after receiving reports of a B-double carting cattle had crashed.
The driver told Deniliquin Local Area Command police he lost control of the truck, which was carrying 85 head of cattle, when the heavy vehicle’s front steering wheel caught the soft shoulder.
The truck then rolled, taking the two trailers and the livestock with it.
The State Emergency Service was called out to the crash site, with the Hay crew cutting through the trailers to free the trapped animals.
Police assisted the Local Land Services vet and the SES to euthanase a total of 25 cattle as a result of the crash.
The driver was uninjured in the rollover.
