FRIDAY the 13th proved to be anything but unlucky for the Yates family at Barwon Poll Dorsets and White Suffolks’ annual spring sale.
This season’s sale again pleased the buyers and the Yates family was delighted with the diversity of returning purchasers and new clients.
A total clearance of 184 rams was achieved for both breeds with the Poll Dorsets reaching a top of $5500 from Deepdene Pastoral, Book Book.
Matt Merriman of Yass brought a number of the Poll Dorsets to give him an impressive draft of flock rams to a top of $2100.
The average for the Poll Dorsets was $1539.
An outstanding line up of White Suffolks topped at $2000 several times from returning purchasers Inglemar Pastoral Co, Walbundrie and Corey Beckett from Pleasant Hills.
The White Suffolks achieved a $1400 average.

A highly pleasing aspect to this year’s sale was the 105 Aug/Sep 2016 drop rams average of $1588, which is exceptional for yearling rams.
Barwon stud principal Mark Yates believed this was the way of the future for not only his annual sales, but for the industry.
The annual autumn sale will be held on Friday, February 2.
This year will feature 140 Poll Dorsets and 50 White Suffolk rams on offer.
On another exciting note for buyers, four new sires with remarkable Lambplan figures have been introduced to the stud and the progeny will be on offer at the upcoming sale.
