Adele Edwards of Nangus impressed the sizable crowd when she took out the ladies barrel race and novice barrel race on Saturday, while Tumut junior Dylan Weir excelled as he won the Novice Saddle Bronc.
Tarcutta local Kylie Coates garnered plenty of support when her time came in the breakaway roping, finishing in third place.
Meanwhile, Denny Swadling took out the open saddle bronc, while Mitchell Tidyman prevailed in the open bareback.
It was also the event’s most successful year overall, with competitor numbers swelling from 298 to 384 in the space of a year.
While takings at the gate are still being calculated, Tarcutta Horse Sports Inc secretary Jasmine Allen said the crowd was definitely well up on last year’s.
Allen was thrilled with the growth of the young event.
“With almost 100 extra competitors and what was definitely our biggest ever turnout, it’s really exciting,” she said.
“We’re such a small committee but the support from the community has been unbelievable.”
“It can be really hard to get a rodeo off the ground, but everything has been going really well.
“We’re building and learning every year.”
