HUME Group AGM and conference was held at the Junee Ex-Services Club on October 18 with about 54 members present. Conference is a time for members from CWA branches to share their ideas, knowledge and experiences with other members from Cootamundra, Junee, Ardlethan,Ariah Park, Bellarwi, Batlow, Kikoira, Ungarie, Wallendbeen, Eurongilly, West Wyalong and Temora district branches.

Junee Deputy Mayor, Matt Austin, welcomed members and guests, speaking on the history of the CWA and delighting all with his rendition of "I've been everywhere man".
Wallendbeen president Mrs M Thorburn welcomed all members and guests.
Mrs G Commens, ACWW South Pacific Area president, opened the conference and gave a photo presentation of some of the work being done in the South Pacific with CWA funding. She highlighted the South Pacific Area Conference in Wellington and urged members to become members of the ACWW.
Greetings were received from Murray, Murrumbidgee, Lachlan, Riverina ,Sturt and Southern Tablelands Groups.
President Tina Billing gave a very comprehensive report and spoke of the huge learning curve as president and group representative, which re-enforced her admiration for all those involved in CWA.
Mrs Billing concluded with the quote: " A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform."
A member of the CWA structure review, Tanya Jolly, attended the meeting and spoke about the communiques sent to each group and their findings from the survey which went out in the Countrywoman.
Officers reports were read outlining activities for International, Publicity, Handicraft, Land Cookery, Cultural and Agriculture and Environment. The country of study for 2018 is Poland, and medical research nominated was Neurofibromatosis.
The election of office bearers saw Mrs Billing returned as president, with E Everingham as secretary, P Herbert will be handicraft officer, S Woodward as International officer and E Clark, Land cookery. V Chown, J Thompson and L Rawling are new vice presidents.
The Heather Bell- Smyth trophy went to Dirnaseer branch for best attendance, the Rita Harper Trophy for increase in membership to Cootamundra branch, and the Margaret Smith AO trophy for best branch report to Ungarie.
Bellarwi branch presented the best International and Cultural Books, as well as the Maureen Hainsworth trophy "Hands Across the Sea" , the most money collected for "Coins for Friendship".
- Hume Group meet on Wednesday, November 29 for the council meeting and Land Cookery Day, at Junee.
