A MASSIVE show of support for the upcoming Hay B&S Ball is a reflection that rural events are as popular as ever, a committee member says.
In fact the popularity of such events, once aptly named bachelor and spinster balls, appears to be on the rise throughout country Australia.
Combine old-fashioned tradition with modern communication methods including the huge popularity of social media and there appears to be no limits when it comes to promoting these events.
The Hay B&S Ball has gained its strength from an active committee of nine people aged from 20 to 60.
A committee member said the event had been named the Hay Dust Drinkers B&S Ball after a competition was held allowing people to put naming suggestions forward.
