Why not mill it yourself safely and easily, with a Hardwood Mills Australia portable band saw mill?
Designed for Australian hardwood timber as well as exotics, the mill is designed with safety as a priority.
While milling you stand behind the blade, which is controlled by a hand-operated acceleration handle. If your hand is not pushing the handle down the blade will not spin, so effectively if you fall the blade stops.
Another feature is a kill switch in the blade cover. If the door opens the engine stops.
The mill can not be started with the doors open.
In the unlikely event that the blade is thrown or breaks, nothing happens as the band wheels need the blade to be tightly fitted to spin.
The Hardwood Mills Australia portable band saw mill is versatile. It can cut 21-inch wide slabs, millimetre-thin laminates, floorboards, all standard dimensional timbers and large hardwood beams (10x10-inch or 20x20-inch), so is perfect for marine or bridge carpentry, garden sleepers, sheep grating.
As the kerf of the blade, which determines the width of the cut, is thin (1.85mm) so the finish of the timber is smooth with no gouge marks and little sawdust.
Coming soon is the new Hardwood Mills weatherboard attachment, which will add a whole new dimension to the saw mill.
The bi-metal band saw blades can be re-sharpened numerous times with the Hardwood Mills Sharpener. Basically treat your blade as you would a chainsaw chain, don’t allow it to get blunt and you will achieve millimetre-perfect lumber and paper-thin laminates.
Milling your logs is fast and efficient there is no need to level each log individually. Once the mill is set up and level you can continuously mill log after log. It has been designed for tractor, forklift or manual loading, quickly and efficiently.
The mill has a three-year commercial warranty on the 14hp Kohler engine.
Best of all is the price $5750, with six metres of track, a carbon blade and a bi-metal blade. Replacement blades are $95 and the sharpener is $550.
