Kylie, 16, will head to Gillette, Wyoming next month to compete in the High School Rodeo Finals.
The accomplished rodeo competitor plans to test her skills against some of the best in the world. To qualify the Wagga High School student had to perform successfully at a number of Australian rodeos.
“I have been riding for as long as I can remember and this will be my first trip overseas,” she said.
Kylie said the High School Rodeo Finals will be the biggest event of her career so far.
She has already lined up a horse to ride – which belongs to Shawn Reynolds – in the roping. Another horse, owned by Lexi Hamm, will be used in barrel racing and pole bending events.
Kylie said 11 competitors were competing in the junior high school section of the rodeo and 17 were entered in the senior category.
“I think I will go okay in my events but whatever happens I am just happy to be able to experience it all,” she said.
