“It was a successful day,” organiser Darrell Edwards said.

“Everyone stayed until the last bull ride.”

Gundagai local and national barrel racing icon Adele Edwards was the toast of the town winning her event on Saturday night.

Edwards clocked a lightning-fast 17.3 second run on trusty Moon Roc in the final preliminary round on the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft Rodeo Association calendar.

The home-town arena had no bearing on her drive to win.

“I want to win them all,” she said.

“You don’t try any harder because it’s your home event.”

Edwards was confident, despite a tough run a week earlier at Equitana where her horse knocked a barrel.

Edwards will have a month-long spell before the Christmas run, beginning in Myrtleford on Boxing Day.

Euberta cowgirl Maree Curtis had a pleasing day, winning at Mendooran and placing fourth at Gundagai.

ABCRA standings haven’t been published yet, but she hopes Saturday’s results helped her qualify for finals at Tamworth in January.

Marrar local Brock Mulhall didn’t have to travel too far to claim top prize in the bareback at Gundagai. He pipped in-form Ben Hall from Tumbarumba by one point on Saturday night.

Meanwhile in the saddle bronc, Tooma cowboy Brad Pierce has qualified for ABCRA finals.

Pierce won on Cajun Lady, producing the top score of 82.

He knew she would produce the goods; it was just up to him to stay on.

In the final event of the night, the bulls were fierce and only two bull ride entrants clocked a time. 

Goulburn cowboy Ash Hanby took out the event with an 82 point ride.
