“We get a lot of local competitors, and people who come from all over the place.”
Last year, another family friend, Cootamundra’s Kerrie Holder, won the open event at the Lisa Coates Memorial.
Victorian Pat Colins won the feature event, the Memorial Classic, run to allow breeders the chance to showcase younger horses.
Five-year old Chelsea Reynolds from The Rock outpaced competitors three years her senior to win the under 8’s event.
Wagga’s McKenzie Woodhouse, 14, another up-and-comer to watch, won the under 18’s race on Saturday.
