Return buyers underpinned the sale when 23 heifers were offered, selling to $15,000 for 22 sold and average $5705; while 18 of the 24 bulls on offer sold for average $5500, with top price of $11,000.
Top priced bull was Tennysonvale Lets, a 22 month old son of Tennysonvale Hugo, and was purchased by return client Brett Nobbs, Nobbs Cattle Company, Duaringa, Qld.
Another return client, Ray Vella, Marlborough, Qld, purchased two bulls and paid to $9,500 for his first choice Tennysonvale Mig (P) to add to the top priced heifer, he purchased for $15,000.
Tennysonvale Luxy was an 18 month old Poll daughter of Mallee Hector out of Tennysonvale Jacqui, and had been judged Supreme Simmental exhibit at the 2017 Canberra Royal Show.
The Burow family, Yerwal Estate, Naracoorte, SA, selected Tennysonvale Lane (P) to add to their sire battery, and paid $8,500, while volume buyer C.L. Long, Moruya paid average $4250 for his draft of four sires.
There was a lot of interest in the heifers presented for sale, with 24 months-old Tennysonvale Lotus (P) selling for $12,750: she had been depastured to Tennysonvale Leada.
Purchased by Guy Martin, Taralga, in partnership with Ralph and Vicki Stuart, Berry, Mr Martin said they liked the hair type, softness and moderate frame.
“Fine and smooth hair is important for our Queensland clients to handle the heat and create less problems with ticks,” Mr Martin said.
Ralph Stuart said the heifer presented very well and they plan to flush her, with one flush already sold.
Steve Tyson, Maclee Simmentals, Maimaru purchased Tennysonvale Leena (P) a 21-month daughter of Mallee Hector for $8,000.
Brett Nobbs, Nobbs Cattle Co, Duaringa, Qld also bought a heifer, paying $7000 for Tennysonvale Layla (P), while Gary and Joy Allen, Tugulawa Simmentals, Mt Gambier, SA, selected three heifers for $6333 average.
Long time supporters of the Tennysonvale stud, Graeme and Jean Smith, Warrowie Simmentals, Colac, Victoria, purchased three heifers for $5333 average.
Speaking after the sale, Jared Baldry said his family was very happy with the sale result.
“We had repeat buyers, and everyone is very happy with the cattle they have bought previously,” he said.
The sale was settled by Elders, Wagga Wagga and was interfaced with Elite Livestock Auctions. Joe Wilks, Elders Wagga Wagga took control of the bidding.
