IT’S on again – Roseville Corriedales will be holding its third on-property sale in October.

With the success of last years’ sale, which went above and beyond all expectations, time has come around fast for this year’s Corriedale sale.

There’s no better time than the present to think Roseville Corriedales as the stud produces true dual-purpose sheep.

With prices for meat and wool at record highs, it is a sure sign of a bright future for the industry overall and the Corriedale breed in particular.

Inquiries to Roseville over the past few years indicate the Corriedale is having a revival, with growers realising the value in Corriedales again.

“This is a great time to have Corriedales,” stud co-principal Tony Manchester said.

“Yet again we have had our best wool sales, with our main lines making up to 940 cents on a down market on the day, with two processors really showing strong interest in our Roseville brand.

“Our ewes are cutting 6.5 to 7kg of wool and our lambs are averaging $140 per head nett all lambs sold, with all lambs gone at six months of age.

“After the tough conditions at the start of the year our ewes joined well. Taking in the long dry time we had, the ewes scanned at over 170 per cent, which we were proud of in these conditions.”

Although the stud was formed in 1996, there has been fleece weighing on the property since 1978, with a focus on the importance of lifting wool production.

The stud is fiercely proud of what it can achieve with its Corriedales and is always looking to find ways to improve genetics and provide clients with quality sheep.

This has included using its performance Corriedale group, which is involved with other like-minded studs from around Australia and New Zealand.

“The rams this year are again looking great,” Tony said.

“EBVs will be available with all sheep genetics and fleece results on the 42 rams on offer.

“We will have the rams individually penned to try and make your selection easier.

“We look forward to seeing you on sale day, Friday, October 13 at 2pm, with a barbecue lunch provided.”
