IF you are looking for Poll Dorset rams which will produce lambs for the domestic and export markets then you should look no further than the Valley Vista stud.
Founded in 1976 and moved from its original home at Burrumbuttock to Coolac, NSW in 1990, the stud expanded in 1991 - when principals Andrew and Donna Scott purchased the entire Meadow Creek stud – and again in 2006.
In 2008 Joe, James and Luke Scott founded the Valley Vista Park stud and have continued to add to their genetic base, building numbers up to about 1000 stud ewes.

When selecting rams for their stud’s breeding program, there is an emphasis on ease of lambing and high growth rates, as well as producing a well-muscled and structurally correct sheep.
One of the main selection criteria is selecting for high growth rate. All lambs are weighed at weaning and then two more times at 30-day intervals. These weights are converted to grams/day and lower than 300-350g/day are culled.
The stud also uses Stockscan on all rams for muscle area and individual data on each animal, which is used to provide a ranking for ram and ewe lambs and is also entered into Lambplan.
The Scotts started showing at major shows in 2000 and has had continuing success over the years in the show ring.
This year has been no different, with a swathe of results proving the stud is consistently breeding rams that are early maturing well-muscled and structurally correct.
