WARWICK in Queensland is a long way from the Riverina.
But Riverina and southern NSW competitors certainly made their mark at the coveted Australian Professional Rodeo Association (APRA) finals. The region had competitors and stock well represented and Tooma’s Brad Pierce claimed an Australian championship in the saddle bronc.
Stock contractor John Gill, who is principal of John P Gill and Sons at The Rock was honoured for the talents of his bucking bull High Flying Akubra.
This bull was named APRA bucking bull of the year.
“It is so good for this region to do well … this is a strong area for rodeo,” he told The Rural.
High Flying Akubra highest rated bull Australian champions good for where we live and good for region.
Mr Gill also paid tribute to the work of Mr Pierce saying it was a big effort for the cowboy to win both the finals championship and the pro tour championship.
