The market tracked dearer over some categories due in part to stronger demand from feedlots.

All export processors attended, however one major processor did not operate.

The price gains recorded last week for lighter weight store cattle were lost as competition weakened over most weight categories.

Vealers made from 298c to 320c/kg.

The trend for yearling trade cattle was stronger with some processors prepared to push prices.

The main run of heifers sold 3c dearer to average 278c, while the steer portion lifted 9c to average 295c/kg. The bulk of the lighter weight store steers made from 308c to 366c/kg. Light weight heifers back to the paddock sold to erratic competition making from 248c to 350c/kg.

Feeder steers were well supplied and competition was stronger. Medium weight steers gained 7c to average 302c/kg.

The general price trend for feed heifers was unchanged to 2c/kg easier. The bulk of the lighter weight heifers 330-400kg sold from 264c to 305c/kg.

Export steers sold to solid competition, with only two major processors buying the bulk of the heavy portion. The better C3 and C4 steers sold from 280c to 294c/kg. In the cow market quality was once again very good.
