That's how Mike Munro describes the program he's presenting on Foxtel's history channel at 8.30pm on Tuesday night.
Lawless – The Real Bushrangers, hosted by Mike Munro delves into the lives of Ned Kelly, Captain Moonlite, Ben Hall, and Patrick and James Kenniff.
The show investigates the bushrangers – and those who fought against them – using the latest forensic methods to test historical and archaeological evidence.
The team visited Forbes just after last year's major flooding and went digging - literally - to find the most accurate shooting site of Ben Hall and whether he was shot in his swag.
Descendants of both Hall and the policeman who led the investigation against him are brought into the show.
They also asked a retired Supreme Court judge to decide whether or not Ben had been legally executed or murdered.
"The initial police report has no mention of Ben having a revolver, three days later suddenly he has a revolver," Mr Munro said.
Even if a murder verdict is handed down, Munro is firm on the fact that the series does not glamorise the bushrangers.
Ben Hall led a short but prolific three-year crime spree across NSW which came to an end near Billabong Creek.
The documentary is not the first time Ben Hall has been immortalised on the big screen with the release of feature film ‘The Legend of Ben Hall’ in December, 2016.
