According to Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service the usual buyers were present and competing in a dearer market.
Light new season lambs lifted $6, to sell from $119 to $123/head. Trade weights were $5 to $6 better with prices ranging from $126 to $158/head. Heavy and extra heavy weights were firm to $4/head better. Heavy lambs sold from $150 to $158 and extra heavy weights received from $168 to $184/head.
Carcase prices averaged 640c/kg cwt.
Old trade weight Merino lambs sold from $121 to $130/head. Mutton quality was very mixed and Merinos made up the majority of the yarding.
Prices were firm to slightly better with Merino ewes selling from $105 to $148/head. Crossbred ewes ranged in price from $105 to $138/head.
