While folks aren’t always fond of Queenslanders in this part of the world, Wandoan cowboy Cameron Webster certainly won the crowd over on his way to the saddle bronc title.
It was a classy showing from Webster, and ultimately proved enough to edge out his brother Tom, who was forced to settle for second-best.
All-round Champion of Australia Shane Kenny also featured heavily on the night, showing his wealth of experience as he took out the steer wrestling and rope and tie events.
Yass cowgirl Michelle Bush was in great form to win the barrel race, while Ben Thorpe and Jack Kidd took out the bull ride and bareback titles respectively, Thorpe being the only score in the bull ride.
In the junior division, Elle Gard won the junior barrel race, while Jack Nielsen took out the junior steer ride.
Co-organiser Jane Gill said she was thrilled with the high level of competition and strong turnout to match.
“I thought it went really well, we had about 5000 people out there,” she said.
“There were a lot of families there too, they all came along and had a great time.”
